Moon Over Miami: Cinderello
Moon Over Miami is a detective/romantic
comedy which aired on network television in the early 1990's. The series is set
in Miami, Florida and centers around a detective agency run by Walter Tatum and
his assistant Gwen. "Cinderello" concerns a "gentleman" burglar
who breaks into Gwen's apartment as she sits watching an old movie, eating junk
food, and crying about her upcoming birthday. The burglar steals her
grandmother's pearls but is distracted by her tears. He commiserates, gives her
a kiss, and then climbs out the window, inadvertently leaving behind a VERY
expensive shoe (hence the name of the episode). Gwen goes on a search for the
man, dragging Walter along for the ride. Her burglar returns the pearls to her
as a birthday present, and then, when the cops start to get too close, asks her
to hide him for a few days. Gwen has to decide what she really wants, the
fantasy of her prince or the reality of her life.
Duncan Regehr plays Lawrence Avalon, the charming gentleman burglar who leaves behind a shoe and an indelible impression. It is only after several days of close quarters does she realize that first impressions can be quite deceiving.
(This series is not available commercially and is extremely rare in personal tape collections.)
